Using a Target to Teach Agility Dogs Body Placement

Albert is a mix breed shepherd that does a great job of demonstrating some advanced commands that all stem from the basic “place” command.

Once your dog learns to “find” the place marker and to keep front or rear feet on it, you have a huge array of commands you can grow off it.

You can also start working on distance handling when your dog learns to “hunt” for the place target which is a book in this video.

It is also a great tool for obedience, teaching your dog proper position at your side and center as well as how to stay in position during left turns.

This kind of work is also quintessential for dog agility as it teaches your dog body awareness as well as proper position at your side.

Be sure to LIKE if you enjoyed watching Albert show off his abilities and then SHARE it with your dog friends so they can see how much fun you can have without a single piece of dog agility equipment.
