Amanda Nelson’s Moving Wait Game
One of the moves that sets Amanda apart in distance handling competitions is her thorough teaching of moving wait.
You will see this move if you watch Border Collies herding sheep during competitions to keep the flock quiet.
Amanda has capitalized on it to not only gain control of her dogs in distance work, but in impulse control as well.
What this has done for her teams is create a learning environment for building confidence and thinking dogs.
What impresses me is that her dogs are going forward but thinking back so Amanda never has to raise her voice.
This is a dog’s highest validation that the handler is the leader, they can do their job knowing she has their back.
