Prey Or Play Drive Difference In Dogs
Well this video does not demonstrate to me anyway, how to build drive in your dog.
It does however show the difference in play/prey drive in these two dogs.
I must admit that I was a bit surprised at the lack of drive in the Belgium Malinois.
These dogs are known for such a high prey drive that they don’t do well with smaller animals like cats.
That aside the trainer does make a very good point.
If you want high drive in a dog it is best to look for it in a new dog rather than trying to make it.
In other words, don’t expect your basset hound to become a border collie.
That being said, you can build drive in your dog but you have to know your dog and what drive they have.
I had a GSD that had No food drive but would do anything for a loud obnoxious squeaky toy.
So this video is great to show the different drive in dogs, but not much good at showing how to build drive.
