Is There Back Side of Jump Wraps

This video raises some good points on the teaching of “Back Side of Jump” handling and how it may affect future runs.

Lisa describes Greg Darrett’s methodology of teaching the “Refusal Plane” and not a Back Side of Jump.

She points out that teaching the dog to hook over a jump after passing through the refusal plane could cause a collision on a course where the dog “goes on auto pilot” and goes for the hook on a jump they are not to take.

Does this mean that she does not train for a wrap on a jump that is being called a “back side of jump?”  Yes and No.

She will show you how she would handle that line, but she does not drill the dog on that technique.

In this way she feels you keep the dog honest on executing a refusal plane.
