The Greyhound is capable 0f reaching speeds of over 37mph (60 Km/h) but was not developed for racing but rather hunting.

Known as a sight hound this breed derives it’s name from the old Saxon word grei meaning fine or beautiful.

That is exactly what the Greyhound is recognized for as far back as 4,900 years ago being carved on Egyptian tombs.

It is a mistake to think these amazingly fast dogs are bad pets as they are actually delightful and relaxed companions.

Though retired racing Greyhounds are known to have a tendency to chase anything that moves and amazing jumpers.

They seem to be the perfect candidate for dog agility with their speed and agility and many do take to it with joy.
