Advancing Your Dog on the Dog Agility A-Frame
Once your dog has a solid contact behavior and is comfortable with climbing the a-frame with little to no height you are ready to advance.
Leaving your leash on the dog if needed for added control you will start teaching the obstacle as a single movement rewarding for correct ending behavior.
When the dog is correct at a low height you can raise the a-frame to the next height being sure your dog is confident and solid at one level before moving to the next.
At any time your dog becomes afraid or loses drive, go back to a place where they can be successful and start again.
Keep your sessions short especially as the height increases as you don’t want your dog to get tired and make a mistake that could cause injury.
