Teaching Weaves With The Push Pull Method
The push pull method is where you use the leash, a treat or a toy to lure the dog through the weave poles.
You can start with any even set of poles and add until you reach the full 12 pole obstacle.
You can also add a verbal cue while luring to help teach the obstacle and act as a upbeat motivator to hurry the dog through.
The trainer in this video talks about teaching muscle memory during this exercise to teach this as a complete obstacle.
In other words, the dog learns the behavior of weaving from the start as with wired poles.
You would then teach drive through the weaves after the dog has learned the correct pattern.
