Teaching Running Contacts Via Silvia Trkman Method

Though not in English, this is a nice video showing step by step how Karine taught her dog Blue Boy running contacts using the methods taught by Silvia Trkman with the added bonus of improvising.

Karine uses what looks like a homemade ramp on steps to add height to the exercise taking away excuses for not practicing.

It is pretty straight forward on the training – if the dog misses the contact as the angle gets steeper, the reward is withheld.

I know the running contacts make for better times, but I can also see where it can lead to fly offs if you are not consistent with the dog touching the contacts both on the up and down side.

Because of this many choose to teach both the running contact as well as the 2on2off methods for added control.
