Debby Wheeler and her dog Seven shows how she starts her dogs on the 2on 2off contact.

You will see how she not only shapes the behavior, but also her treat technique to keep the dog in position.

You don’t need any fancy equipment to teach the beginning behaviors either, just a short plank raised off the ground.

And while running contacts will get you a faster time, they are not always the most strategic move for a team or course.

If your dog has a solid 2on 2off contact it will allow you to slow your dog if they are getting too fast or excited.

It can also allow the handler to catch up with a dog in order to be in proper position for the next line.
