How to Know if Your Agility Dog Broke Their Paw
Dr. James Talbott, talks about how to tell if your dog has broken his paw by sight only.
A fracture is going to cause abundant swelling in the foot pretty quickly after the accident, in a matter of minutes.
It is also going to cause a lot of pain to the dog and usually they will not bear weight on that foot at all.
Unlike a broken toenail or a foot pad injury, you will not want to try and self examine the injury site as the pain may cause your dog to bite.
If you must examine the foot, which is not recommended, take necessary precautions such as muzzle or Elizabethan collar and a helper.
If you have even the slightest concern that your dog may have fractured a paw, take them to the vet asap.
