How To Introduce Your Adopted Dog To A Crate
Crate training an older or adopted dog isn’t much different than working with a puppy with the exception they can be expected to stay in a crate for longer periods once they are doing well with being in the crate.
This is a rather cute video, but it is loaded with great information on how to correctly start your dog with crate training.
A crate should never be used to punish a dog or to put them in when you grow tired of their antics caused by lack of exercise.
They can be used for time outs, but always in a positive manner with toys or chews to keep them occupied and help them calm down.
When introduced early and correctly, most dogs will find a crate to be a safe haven and may even put themselves on time out.
