Great Example of Dog Agility Barrel Work
Amanda Nelson is a super competitor in the dog agility world with a great handle on distance work and directional control.
This is a session with Ally as they work on directional control around a barrel a necessity in many dog agility games.
They are using a collapsible “barrel,” but you can also use any object your dog must pass behind and lose sight of you.
Notice how Amanda never scolds Ally for not going around correctly, she simple withholds the treat and asks her again.
If your dog is uncomfortable with losing sight of you, you can start with single jump standards or hoops that you can attach a towel to or see through material.
