Dog Agility Keeps Changing But The Heart Remains the Same

Watching older dog agility runs can be very interesting as you see the changes that have positively impacted our sport.

Though the beginning of this set of clips claims they are 10yrs old, you will note that as of 2015 they are 15yrs old.

Some of the great changes are of course in dog handling as Susan points out some of the now popular handling techniques were just being developed.

Other great changes you see are in the equipment with the lowering of the a-frame apex and the introduction of the “break-away” tire that could have helped Buzz.

What has not changed is the focus on a team that is connected and moves across the field in a world of their own like Susan and Buzz.

And while dogs, equipment and training become better it is great to know the heart of the sport stays strong.
