Starting A Solid Start Line Stay
Here is a nice example of starting your dog out with the start line stay.
Great points made as well on proofing the stay and being consistent in your placement of rewards.
You would also want to practice your “wait” command in more distracting situations just like you would for obedience.
But remember to take it slow and build gradually so you don’t inadvertently teach your dog bad habits under stress.
Keep it upbeat and simple for your dog to respond correctly and never do any one exercise so long it becomes a drill.
This could lead to resentment of the exercise and aversion to doing it. Brick by brick not building by building.
