Teaching Your Agility Dog To Jump Into Your Arms

This is one way to teach the maneuver, some like to use pillows stacked on the chair to raise the height as well.

Either way the key is to raise the height slowly waiting until your dog is confident at one height before moving up.

I really like this video as it shows a dog actually learning the maneuver for the first time.

Dog agility handlers teach their dogs to jump into their arms at the end of an agility run for several reasons.

If they have a dog that is insecure about people or new surroundings it helps keep them secure leaving the ring.

It is of great help for dogs that get over exuberant at the end of a run by giving them a definite end to the run.
