Teach Your Dog “Wait” With Their Food Bowl

One cue that will get used everyday and even several times a day is “wait” and the best place to start is with the food bowl.

Mikkel Becker shows you how to teach your dog impulse control while waiting not only for the food delivery, but also the release.

The wait command, especially for agility dogs, is an essential command that will be used in all kinds of situations.

You can grow this lesson to teach your dog to wait at the door, crate, gate and even the start line stay.

You can also use a toy to further the training once you have a wait for the food dish for agility training.

And while some find a start line stay counter productive for their dogs, all dogs need impulse control at meal time.
